The members of the U.S women's team who will compete at the 2007 Junior Pan American Games were announced today. The team is: Olivia Courtney, Chelsea Davis, Mattie Larson and Jordyn Wieber.
Notably absent are US junior all-around champ Rebecca Bross and runner-up Samantha Shapiro. Both are out with injury at the moment, and Bross actually competed in the Senior Pan Ams earlier on in the year. Why? The age limit for this meet is lower than that of the Olympics, so Bross was picked for the senior team (she's that good!) despite still being officially a junior. (Side note: See my thoughts on the age rules that are keeping her a junior.)
The Pan Ams start on Nov. 19 (I hope the girls were already packed!) and is a meet worth watching: Current stars Chellsie Memmel, Nastia Liukin and Shawn Johnson all had coming-out parties at Pan Ams. Memmel's 2003 all-around win got her named to the world team a few weeks later, where she quickly became a two-time world champion!
