Kupets Says She Won't Try for the Olympics

Courtney Kupets, a member of the 2004 Olympic team and a current leader on the University of Georgia women's gymnastics team, has formally announced that she won't be attempting to compete at the 2008 Olympics, and will instead be focusing on NCAA competition.
I had hoped that Kupets, the 2-time NCAA all-around champion, would try to make the team because she excels on bars, where I feel the U.S. is lacking depth. In an interview she gave to Inside Gymnastics, however, it doesn't seem as though the door is completely closed. She says:

I think she would have had to have been on the worlds team this year in order to make it. She hasn’t competed elite since the last Olympics.
