Any sport that's judged is bound to have its results debated ad nauseam. And gymnastics certainly has had its share of dubious wins. But it's not just the scores that have caused disagreement over the years: equipment errors, seemingly arbitrary rules, and even a doping scandal have all given gym fans plenty to talk about.

I really like your list! The only one I would add (and I suppose it’s similar to the Vanessa Atler one), is with Kim Kelly in 1992. She placed 6th at trials and was named to the team but then there was a mysterious second olympic trials and she was left off the team to make room for two injured gymnasts (Okino and Campi). I was young when that happened, but I remember thinking how unfair it was and how devastating it would be if that had been me!

I’m going to agree and add Kim Kelly to the list. Because she didn’t have the “typical” gymnast body she did not make the team although she did EARN the spot with her skills and dedication…to me she is an Olympian…
