Two-time Olympic medalist and University of Alabama senior Terin Humphrey has announced her likely retirement from the Alabama gymnastics team. She's been on the sidelines for most of the year due to a nerve problem in her back, and told The Tuscaloosa News that it's very doubtful she will return to competition because of the severity of the injury.

Though it's such a shame Terin has to end her gymnastics this way, she has had a great three years at Alabama (with two NCAA bar titles!) and an amazing career as an elite gymnast as well. She was the rock of the 2004 Olympic team, after persevering as an underdog in 2002 and 2003. She also took home an Olympic silver medal on bars.

Terin always had original skills and beautiful choreography -- traits that often seem lacking in current elite gymnastics. Here's a quick look at some great shots from Terin's gymnastics career.
