The University of Oklahoma won its eighth national title last night, with a 363.20-362.75 victory over #1 ranked Stanford. The upset was led by Oklahoma senior Jonathan Horton, who placed second all-around and brought in team-high scores on rings (16.10) and parallel bars (15.20). Freshmen Steven Legendre also had a great night, bringing in a 16.00 on floor and a 16.40 on vault for the Sooners.

Stanford, the favorite going in, struggled in the first rotation on parallel bars and never was able to take the lead. Nearly nine points behind Oklahoma with two events left in the competition, Stanford rallied on rings and took advantage of the high-scoring potential of vault to close the gap to only half a point (.45) in the end.

Junior Sho Nakamori led the team on parallel bars (15.15) and pommel horse (14.65) and placed third in the individual all-around. David Sender brought in high scores on vault (16.25) and rings (15.50) and ended up fourth all-around.

The all-around title was won by Casey Sandy of Penn State, who put up a high pommel horse score (14.85) to Horton's missed pommel horse set (13.65) and never looked back. His top mark came on vault, where he brought in a 16.10.

All the meet results can be found at the Stanford website.
