Jordyn Wieber is in first after day one of the 2008 US Nationals in Boston, MA. Her 59.950 puts her just one tenth of a point ahead of Samantha Shapiro (59.850). Wieber also scored the top marks on vault (double-twisting Yurchenko) and bars (full twisting double layout dismount).

Shapiro earned the highest scores of the day on beam (stuck double pike dismount) and floor (Arabian double front mount), and showed impeccable form throughout.

Rounding out the top five are Cassie Whitcomb, Asi Peko, and Amanda Jetter.

The juniors perform all four events again on Saturday, and the one with the highest combined total is crowned junior all-around champ. The duel between Wieber and Shapiro should be great to watch.

Full results are at the USA Gymnastics website.
