Hamm and Horton Named to the Olympic Team
Saturday June 21, 2008
Reigning Olympic All-Around Champion Paul Hamm and 2007 American Cup Champion Jonathan Horton were named to the Olympic team following the second day of competition at the US Olympic Trials. Horton placed first in the overall Nationals/Trials combined rankings, while Hamm, out with an injured hand, was named based on his past accomplishments. The rest of the six-member team will be named tomorrow.
It will be very interesting to see who the selection committee chooses, because of the 6-3-3 team finals competition format at the Olympics, which makes event specialists very important.
Someone like Kevin Tan, who excels on the rings (16.55 to second-place Horton's 15.80) could make the team because of that one event.
Who do you think will make the team?
