Wow! I wish I could do things like that.
Jeez, his sixpack abs show through his clothes!
Is his inclusion only as an alternate controversial, Amy? I don’t follow gymnastics closely enough to know the whole story. Was he robbed?
Hi Kallie,
Thanks for your comment. Yes, Raj being named as an alternate was controversial. I don’t think he was necessarily robbed, but a lot of people wanted him on the team because he was the alternate in 2004 (and in my opinion should have definitely been on the team then), and because he hit very well at Olympic Trials. He also has more international experience than others named. But on the flip side, his strengths don’t always match exactly with what the team needs. So definitely controversy around the whole decision!
Thank you for your comment and Happy WW!
Our family has an interest in gymnastics, so I will definately be back for more information. How knows, maybe someday you will feature one of ours on your site!
He is in good shape why not..nice entry..see mine if you can..
While, he is a sympathetic favorite, his scores do not help the team. And the 4 days at Nats and Trials make this very clear. If you put him on the team and take anyone off, the resultant team is worse.
However Sasha Artemev should be on the team, replacing Spring EVEN WITH a 3/4 fall PH performance. He still helps the team even if those 4 days of trials show what we can expect from him! And if he hits it’s all upside.
Raj is my old team mate from Cypress Academy of Gymnastics in Cypress, TX. We spent at least 4 hours a day together for 15 years and he has always been one of the most dedicated and consistent gymnasts in the sport. His personality and family life is one that all of our Olympians should model. Should he be a member of the 2008 Men’s US Olympic team??? YES! YES! YES! He is an ambassador for the sport of gymnastics worldwide, and his legacy is one that deserves to be in the history books.
This is his last go at the Olympics and once he is done he will probably go back to Med. School… where he will, if I’m not mistaken, be an orthopedic surgeon… and continue to help gymnasts and other athletes continue their career after an injury.
He’s really strong though
Lets hope he is the replacement for HAMM..
GO RAJ!! BRING HOME THE GOLD!
