The US team took advantage of a somewhat weak international field at the 2008 Pan American Gymnastics Union (PAGU) Individual Event Championships, winning a total of 11 medals (five gold; six silver).

First-year senior and 2007 US Junior National Champ Rebecca Bross withdrew due to a minor knee injury, but her teammates Samantha Shapiro, Olivia Courtney, and Corrie Lothrop held their own. Shapiro earned gold on beam (15.775) and bars (15.425), Courtney won floor (15.175) and finished second on vault (14.313), and Lothrop took gold on vault (14.375) and silver on bars (14.350), beam (15.575), and floor (14.975). The US women took the top two spots on every event (only two gymnasts per country were allowed for each event).

In the men's competition, American Danell Leyva won high bar (15.775), and earned second on pommel horse (14.55) and sixth on floor (13.075), while teammate Glen Ishino finished fourth on high bar (15.05) and fifth on pommels (13.9).

Good for Corrie! I hope she does really well this year. I like Shapiro a lot too. She has some beautiful form.
