The men's NCAA finals are also this week, starting Thursday the 16th in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Last year, Oklahoma pulled an upset on Stanford, winning 363.20-362.75 at Stanford's home gym. This year, the Cardinal is again ranked number one, and is hoping to pull off the win this time.
Competitors: Twelve teams have qualified to the first day of competition:
1. Stanford / 2. Oklahoma / 3. Illinois / 4. Michigan / 5. California / 6. Ohio State / 7. Minnesota / 8. Penn State / 9. Nebraska / 10. Illinois-Chicago / 11. Iowa / 12. Navy
The list of individual competitors not competing with a full team.
Schedule: The preliminary day of competition (April 16) will feature the 12 teams in two sessions of six. Like the women's competition, the top three teams from each session will advance to team finals on Friday. The all-around and team champions are both named on Friday, with individual event finals contested on Saturday.
Gymnasts to watch: Chris Brooks (Oklahoma), the #1- ranked all-arounder right now; Steve Legendre (Oklahoma), one of the best tumblers in the world; Casey Sandy (Penn State), the 2008 NCAA all-around champ; Sho Nakamori (Stanford), a US National team member
