Longtime star Beth Tweddle talks candidly about her Beijing experience, in which she made the bar finals but finished fourth. She told Great Britain's Metro, "It was all a horrible experience. I hated myself, I hated the Olympics and I hated gymnastics. There was no way I was going to carry on in the sport."
It's tough to read her honest words, especially after all the success she's had in the sport -- including a gold on bars at the 2006 worlds. Britain's first world champion is a lock for the London Olympic team barring injury, and will have another chance to win an Olympic medal, this time in front of her home country. With some of the most impressive difficulty and release combinations in the world, I think she can definitely do it. I predicted a bronze for her in my earlier 2012 medalist predictions.

Well, no wonder she only took fourth place in Beijing, as the article states, she “came in fourth on the PARALLEL BARS.”
But everybody else was apparently competing on the uneven bars!
