LONDON -- The US women's team led from start to finish in the team finals today, ending their day more than five points ahead of second-place Russia, after Russia collapsed in the final rotation with two low scores on floor.
The Americans lived up to the considerable hype and looked solid and confident all competition long. They started on vault with three nearly-stuck Amanars, and capped off their day on floor, with three fantastic routines, all 15.0 or higher.
Russia was only a couple of tenth behind after bars, but had wobbles on beam, and two falls on floor sealed the silver for the team. Romania earned bronze.
The final results:
1. United States 183.596
2. Russia 178.530
3. Romania 176.414
4. China 174.430
5. Canada 170.804
6. Great Britain 170.495
7. Italy 167.930
8. Japan 166.646

Alright, alright, NOW I see why they wouldn’t replace McKayla Maroney with an alternate after she broke her toe!! Maroney made that answer pretty darn obvious with her nearly flawless vault. Simply amazing!!
And, it sure is a good thing Aly Raisman has a hard head, because that head-butt she did on the floor during her warm up could have been disastrous for her! I wonder if she will complete her entire first tumbling pass during her All-Around competition? I hope she does. I always look forward to it. I’d love to see her win the All-Around.
Huge CONGRATULATIONS to all of our awesome USA women on their tremendous (not to mention, overwhelming) victory!
Thank you for posting the final scores, Amy!
CONGRATS to the US women!!! They desrved it!!
