National all-around champ and 2012 Olympian John Orozco has also been injured on the Olympic gymnastics tour. (McKayla Maroney and Aly Raisman were previously injured, and both are back on tour, though Maroney is still in a boot)
Orozco tweeted on Saturday, Oct. 20: "Popped my knee outta place on a dismount then popped it back myself right away last night."
He followed up on Monday, saying, "Spoke with my Dr. and it looks like I tore my ACL and Meniscus on my left leg."
Heal fast, John! I'm hoping that after a disappointing Olympics, this super-talent will return stronger than ever in the next couple of years and in Rio 2016. He's come back from a serious Achilles' injury before, and he definitely deserves a break.
It's unclear whether Orozco is still participating in any parts of the tour, which runs until Nov. 18 and ends near Orozco's hometown in Brooklyn, NY. The tour website posted this vague information but hasn't followed up with anything else. If Orozco is out, Jake Dalton and Jonathan Horton are the only two competing members of the 2012 men's Olympic team on tour. (Alternates Alex Naddour, Steven Legendre and Chris Brooks are on the cast as well).
