Definition: A ring leap or jump is done on the beam or floor. The gymnast jumps up and lifts her legs into a split, then bends the back one up towards her head while arching her head and upper body back towards her leg.

The move showcases gymnasts with great flexibility, such as Nastia Liukin, at right.

Variation of this move: a switch ring leap, in which the gymnast swings one leg forward first, then quickly switches legs and goes into the ring position.
Examples: Liukin does a switch ring leap (at 1:30)
