Free Hip Circle

Definition: A free hip circle, also called a clear hip circle, is a basic move performed on the uneven bars or high bar. In it, the gymnast casts up, then circles backward around the bar with his hips close, but not touching, the bar. It is usually done to a handstand position in upper level gymnastics.

Examples: Dasha Joura performs a free hip circle (:16) on the high bar
