When and where: The 2013 artistic worlds will be held Sept. 30-Oct. 6 in Antwerp, Belgium. (The official worlds website.)

Viewing info: Most of the competition can be watched live in the United States on the USA Gymnastics website, or on the Universal Sports TV network.
NBC will also be airing a delayed, edited version on Oct. 12th and 13th at 2 pm ET.

Competition schedule: In keeping with the tradition of recent post-Olympic-year worlds, this year's competition will be individual events and the all-around only; no team competition will be held. The event schedule:

Monday, Sept. 30: Men's Qualifications (Prelims)
- Subdivision 1: 4 - 6:30 am ET: Sam Mikulak competing all-around
- Subdivision 2: 8 - 10:30 am ET (no US gymnasts competing)
- Subdivision 3: 12 - 2:30 pm ET: John Orozco on parallel bars; Jake Dalton on floor exercise and vault; Alexander Naddour on pommel horse; and Brandon Wynn on still rings (the USA’s first event is the parallel bars)

Tuesday, Oct. 1: Men's & Women's Qualifications (Prelims)
- Subdivision 4: 4 - 6:30 am ET: Steven Legendre on floor exercise and vault; John Orozco on pommel horse and high bar; Alexander Naddour on still rings; and Brandon Wynn on parallel bars (the USA's first event is floor)
- Subdivision 1: 8 - 10 am ET: Kyla Ross competing in the all-around
Subdivision 2: 10:30 am - 12:30 pm ET (no US gymnasts competing)

Wednesday, Oct. 2: Women's Qualifications (Prelims)
- Subdivision 3: 7:30 - 9:30 am ET: Simone Biles competing in the all-around
- Subdivision 4: 10 am - 12 pm ET: McKayla Maroney competing in the all-around

Competitors:
Teams are chosen with a different strategy in mind for this worlds than other world championships or Olympic Games that include a team event. Since each team can enter athletes into only an all-around or individual event competition, specialists become especially valuable. Each country is allowed six gymnasts on the men's side, and four on the women's.
US men's team: The US named its men's team following the conclusion of the 2013 US nationals:

  • Jake Dalton, 2012 Olympian
  • Steven Legendre, 2012 Olympic alternate
  • Danell Leyva, 2012 Olympic bronze medalist -- Leyva later resigned from the team due to injury, and 2012 Olympian John Orozco has been added as his replacement
  • Sam Mikulak, 2012 Olympian and 2013 national all-around champion
    Alexander Naddour, 2012 Olympic alternate and silver medalist at the 2013 US nationals
  • Brandon Wynn
  • Team alternates: Eddie Penev and Paul Ruggeri
US women's team: The US women's program named its team following a national team training camp:
  • Simone Biles, 2013 US national all-around champ
  • Brenna Dowell, 2013 national all-around bronze medalist
    McKayla Maroney, 2012 Olympian
  • Kyla Ross, 2012 Olympian
Brenna Dowell has now been named the team alternate, with the other three gymnasts competing all-around
