Women’s US national vault champions
Women's vault is, not surprisingly, the quickest apparatus in any competition. Though the rules have changed over the years -- sometimes two vaults were required at US nationals, other times, only one -- it's still over in a matter of seconds. One sprint down the runway, a powerful hurdle and pre-flight, the push off the horse, flips and twists post-flight, and the landing.
Over the years, many gymnasts have won multiple vault titles, but 2008 Olympian Alicia Sacramone tops the list for gold medals: In 2010, she won her fifth. Sacramone won every year from 2005-2008, and probably would have earned gold in 2009 if she hadn't retired from the sport for a year.
