Though the US team was hoping for gold, the squad took silver for the second consecutive Olympics. Ankle injuries to Chellsie Memmel and Samantha Peszek left Nastia Liukin, Shawn Johnson, and Alicia Sacramone performing 10 of the 12 routines in team finals. Memmel was still able to perform on bars, while Bridget Sloan led off the team finals on vault.
