Soviet gymnast Olga Korbut became world-famous for her amazing acrobatics at the 1972 Olympics. She pioneered a back flip off the high bar and was among the first to do a back tuck on beam. She won both beam and floor and took second on uneven bars.
Korbut married Leonid Bortkevich in 1978, and the couple had a son, Richard, in 1979. She immigrated to the United States in 1991, and divorced Bortkevich in 2000. She married Alex Voinich the same year, but divorced him as well, in 2007.
Korbut has had a few minor run-ins with the law, first for a shoplifting incident in 2002, in which she was accused of taking $19 worth of groceries from a supermarket. Korbut said the shoplifting charge was a misunderstanding, and agreed to pay a fine of $300.
Korbut's son Richard was arrested shortly thereafter for printing $20,000 in counterfeit money, found in Korbut's former home.
