Onodi

By Amy Van Deusen, About.com

Definition: An Onodi is performed by women on beam and floor and is named after Hungarian Olympian Henrietta Onodi. When performing it, the gymnast jumps backwards, then does a half twist into a front handspring.

Of note: Soviet great Olga Mostepanova performed this skill in the early 1980s, but it is instead named after Onodi, who performed it in 1989. It's thought that Mostepanova never submitted the skill. (A gymnast must submit new skills to the judges, who then decide if the skill will be added to the Code of Points and named after the gymnast).
Also Known As: Arabian front handspring
Examples: Nastia Liukin performs an Onodi on beam (at :56)
Hollie Dykes does an Onodi, also on beam (at :57)
